Further Scenarios
We will leave aside the very simple one room solution since this is adequately covered in the User
Guides. But when you come to even the simplest multi room situation there are many options for control
of your SoundServer, each appropriate in different markets or at different price points.
In these scenarios, we will assume you have run audio cabling from the SoundServer to each remote
location, using high quality coaxial audio cabling.
Option 1 – Efficient and Cheap
At its simplest, all you need to do is to get the IR commands from where you are to where the
SoundServer is located. There are many third-party kits available to do this for little more than £50-00.
They are commonly called “IR extenders” and are available from many DIY or Electrical Hardware
retailers. You simply mount the remote IR receiver close to the loudspeakers and route the cable back
to the IR receiver of the SoundServer. Pointing the IR handset at the loudspeakers causes the IR
commands to be routed back to the SoundServer and almost instantly you hear the result.
XiVA tacta and Pronto controllers are ideally suited for use in this example, offering easier choice of
music using the onscreen display.
Option 2 – Add a User Interface
Expanding on Option 1, you can get kits to split the single TV output into 2 or 3 locations. Often called a
DA or distribution amplifier, the device has one composite video input and 2 or more outputs. You need
to run 75
is solution you have the IR sent
down one cable and the TV interface coming back another.
